Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic results

Not a good night for the fans at Fitzgerald Field House. Aside from Richland's John Rizzo, Central Mountain's Brian Brill and Derry Area's Jimmy Gulibon, there wasn't much to cheer about. But Gulibon did send the fans home somewhat happy with a 10-3 victory over Cory Clark, a four-time champ from Iowa who was 186-1 in high school.

  1. Eric,
My work left me stuck back in Spokane, WA watching my son wrestle Dapper Dan via Ustream. My wife couldn't make the trip either because she had to run our other son across the state to NW Cadet/Junior Fresstyle and Greco Regionals. I have been having a heck of a time finding any photos to purchase. The Foto-Sports web site on the DD Wrestling Classic home page has been down for "routine maintenance" for nearly a month now and the number for their business is disconnected.

As you are probably already aware of...I am a little frustrated. I noticed your wife Tami had taken some terrific photos of the DD Classic that I found on Shutterfly but could not find any photos of the 182lb match or the awards presentation. Does she have more photos to upload? Just curious, because I cannot find any photos of Jordan at all. Thanks! - Bill Rogers

  2. Mr. Rogers,
I wish I could help you. I showed my wife your comment and she was genuinely upset that she does not have any photos of Jordan.
She originally was just shooting the event for a couple of Pennsylvania newspapers and concentrating on just their matches. I did ask her to get a couple of other matches in case Intermat wanted anything, but that was after your son had already wrestled, so she has nothing from his match.
I searched the Internet to see if any papers that cover Wes Phipps to see if they had any photos, but couldn't find any. Did you try the Post-Gazette? They are a sponsor of the event and might have gotten shots of all of the matches.
As a side note, I was very impressed with your son. I must admit, I'm sometimes leery of how other states' best will match up against Pennsylvania's top wrestlers, as we tend to think of this as the country's deepest talent pool. Not knowing Jordan's resume, I thought he might fit into that camp. But he was dominant in his match and showed that he absolutely deserves his top ranking. And PA was no match for a very strong national team this year.
I'll be keeping an eye on Jordan in college. Best of luck to him and you in trying to track down some photos.
