Live updates from Berlin-Chestnut Ridge match

I'm entrenched at Chestnut Ridge and will be giving updates throughout the varsity match, which will begin at 170 pounds.
Chestnut Ridge won junior high match, which ended just before 7 p.m., 47-39.
The weigh-in sheets have some different matches than what I had in my preview. Luke Hobson is at 113 instead of 120 and, as one of my readers said on that post, Morgan Deremer is at 126. Ben Clark is at 160 instead of 170 and Brandyn Beaver is out of the lineup while McCall Dunn is in at 170. Berlin's lineup is pretty much as predicted, although there are five extras weighed in just in case the Mountaineers want to do some bumping.
Kiesnowski and Hobson wrestled an exhibition match, which makes it unlikely that either will take part in the dual. McCall Dunn and Ryan Custer (who isn't on Berlin sheet) also are wrestling an exhibition. I take it to mean that Ridge will be bumping from at least 152 up. Considering the start at 170, it will be interesting.
Ridge won both exhibition matches by fall.
Ridge wins the toss and takes even.

Berlin Brothersvalley (2-0) vs. Chestnut Ridge (7-1)
170
Huge start for Chestnut Ridge as Clark pins Moore at 3:43. Moore led for most of match, but got reversed and pinned. Chestnut Ridge 6-0.
182
Winegarder gets two stalling points in a 5-0 win over Pepper. Chestnut Ridge 9-0.
195
Buttry pins Cahill in 4:30. Score was 2-2 in the third when Buttry reversed him and got fall. This dual looks like it's going to turn into a blowout. All Lions so far. Chestnut Ridge 15-0.
220
Trulick with a quick (and badly needed for Berlin) fall. Chestnut Ridge 15-6.

285
Anthony Collins (10-3) vs. Austin Buttry (12-1)
Ridge rolling again as Buttry pins Collins in 3:28. Berlin in big trouble. Chestnut Ridge 21-6
106
Burkett pins Boyce in 1:06. Chestnut Ridge 27-6
113
Tommy DeArmitt (11-2) vs. Blake Dunlap (4-2)

DeArmitt knocks off Dunlap 9-6, but even that has to be a bit disappointing for the Mountaineers, as he could have very easily picked up a fall twice, but Dunlap fought off his back and didn't give up bonus points. Chestnut Ridge 27-9
120
Swank with a 13-1 major decision for Berlin, but those are more points saved by Chestnut Ridge, as Berlin had to be counting on six. Not sure what Swank did after match ended, but it definitely drew the ire of Lions fans.Chestnut Ridge 27-13
126
Deremer wins 7-6. He trailed 5-2 with two seconds left in the first, but rallied and rode out Custer in the third. Chestnut Ridge 30-13
132
Shank scores three third-period points for 5-2 win. Chestnut Ridge definitely looks like the better third-period team - and the better team overall. Chestnut Ridge 33-13
138
Claar pins McDonald in 1:59 to clinch dual-meet win. Chestnut Ridge 39-13
145
Fochtman does just enough to win, 3-1. Didn't actually see much of this one, as I was sending photos to newspaper. Chestnut Ridge 39-16
152
Cahill scores on low-single with 1:10 left in third, then holds on for 6-5 win. Good match, but all of the drama had been sucked out of this one by then. Chestnut Ridge 39-19

160
Fochtman by fall in 2:53. Chestnut RIdge 39-25

Wow, total domination. I expected this to be a much closer match. Give credit to the Ridge upperweights, they scored two huge pins at 170 and 195 that set the tone and really determined the end result.

  1. Ridge might gain some HUGE momentum, they're better off sending out C Buttry agianst Pepper and Winegardner against Cahill.

  2. Berlin got schooled! They showed a nearly complete lack of conditioning with the exception of swank. And im not sure they even know what a pinning combination is they just get lucky and fall into one once in a while. Props to dearmitt by far the best match of the night. The rest of the night was an embarrassment and hopefully motivation for berlin. Great match ridge!
