I didn't make it out to any matches last night, but here are some recaps that I was able to find.

160-Austin Farabaugh, PC, pinned Jarrod Krug, 4:27.
170-Jacob Driskel, PC, pinned Ian Shugars, 3:07.
182-Matt Wyland, PC, maj. dec. James Nevins, FH, 8-0.
195-Alex Paskowski, FH, forfeit.
220-John Wilkinson, PC, pinned Jeff Leach, 4:27.

120-Jake Keiper, FH, forfeit.
126-Evan Wess, FH, forfeit.
132-Triston Law, FH, dec. Zach Stevens, 8-6.
Records: Penn Cambria 5-2; Forest Hills 1-1.
Analysis: What didn't surprise me about this match? It was full of results that I wouldn't have expected, the first being that Penn Cambria found another way to win a dual meet in which it gave up 24 points. It's very early in the season, but Todd Niebauer is doing an outstanding job with this group. There aren't many household names on the Panthers' roster, but they are now 5-2 and Niebauer has told me this could end up being the most fun year he's had as a coach. What a special way for him to get his 100th career win, in a great dual that went right down to the wire.
The first surprise for me came in the second match, where Travis Templeton beat Mike Eckenrode 12-10. I guess it wasn't a huge surprise, given that Eckenrode was 24-12 last year while Templeton was 21-14, but I think maybe I've been underestimating Mr. Templeton. Good win for him.
The next match was also a little bit of a surprise for me. I've heard some good things about sophomore Blaine Harteis, but from the score it looks like Dominic Farabaugh handled him with ease.
The other big surprise came in the final bout at 132. Triston Law was sixth in the state last year at 106, so I would have expected more out of him than the score out of his 8-6 victory over Zach Stevens would indicate. Maybe it was the pressure of needing a pin to win the dual or maybe it was the fact that he bumped up from 126, which already seemed a bit heavy for him, but that was a surprisingly close victory for someone of Law's caliber.
Central Cambria 46, Richland 27
220-Matt Moose, R, pinned John Branick, 1:21.
285-Brendon Smith, CC, forfeit.
106-Max Murin, CC, forfeit.
113-Ian Ostrowski, CC, forfeit.
120-Steve Rouser, R, dec. Hunter Kisch, 9-2.
126-Adam George, R, pinned Jamison Stohon, 3:36.
132-Colton Makin, CC, dec. Ben Saloga, 4-2.
138-Tommy Opdenhoff, CC, maj. dec.. Dan Verhovsek, 11-0.
145-Nick Naglic, R, pinned Kerry Kirsch, 2:33.
152-Kevin Bednar, CC, forfeit.
160-Bryce Thompson, CC, forfeit.
170-Cordale Kline, CC, dec. Trevor Henry, 8-2.
182-Nico Pecora, R, pinned Jake Myers, 1:12.
195-Tom Howell, CC, forfeit.
Records: Central Cambria 4-3; Richland 0-2.
Analysis: Not too much to take out of this one. Central Cambria's top three wrestlers all won with ease. IanOstrowski got a forfeit while Max Murin picked up a quick pin. I don't know anything about Richland's Dan Verhovsek, but he didn't get pinned by Tommy Opdenhoff, so that's not too bad. Richland's top guys - Naglic and Pecora - also recorded falls.
Chestnut Ridge 40, Philipsburg-Osceola 25
195-Conner Buttry, CR, pinned Mason Pryde, 4:57.
220-Nick
Gray, PO, pinned John Heming, 2:17.
285-Austin Buttry, CR, pinned
Roger Kephart, Roger, 1:54.
106-Aaron Burkett, CR, dec. Bryce Bennett, 6 - 2
113-Blake Dunlap, CR, pinned Nathan Quick, 3:47.
120-Chris
Thompson, PO, maj. dec. Luke Hobson, 9-0.
126-Levi Hughes, PO,
dec. Dustin Ickes, 5-2.
132-Dakota Weitoish, PO, pinned Morgan
Deremer, 3:03.
138-Sam Shank, CR, pinned Caleb Shively, 2:38.
145
Derrick Claar, CR, maj. dec. Scott Yarger, 10-1.
152-Colby
Hillegass, CR, dec. Dallas Kephart, 3-2.
160-Trent Crouse, CR,
dec. Nick Patrick, 5-2.
170-Kaleb Guy, PO, pinned Ben Clark,
5:43.
182-Kyle Winegardner, CR, dec. Dennis Lumadue,
4-2.
Records: Chestnut Ridge 1-0; Philipsburg-Osceola 0-2
Analysis: It's hard for me to take too much from this, since I don't really know Philipsburg-Osceola. I can only go by what I found in Tom Elling's PA Wrestling Handbook. From that, it looks like PO's top wrestlers are Nick Gray and Dennis Lumadue. Gray won, but Kyle Winegardner posted a 4-2 victory over Lumadue, who was 29-7 and finished third in District 6-AAA last season. Colby Hillegass beat Dallas Kephart, who was 17-13 last season while Sam Shank pinned Caleb Shively, who was 23-10 a year ago Ridge's Luke Hobson lost 9-0 to Chris Thompson, who was 19-3 last year.
All in all, it looks like Ridge got some good wins, but PO isn't the powerhouse it once was.
