It was a very busy weekend for local high school teams. Because so many teams wrestled multiple times in dual-meet tournaments, I'm not going to do an analysis of each one. These are all of the results I was able to find, but some schools like Meyersdale and Cambria Heights didn't send me their box scores or update them on the NWCA site, so I can't post them.

Analysis: Bedford continues to prove it's the best team in the area. Toby Brett's pin of Clayton Claar at 126 was big, but the Bisons really got on a roll with Zach Dudek's fall at 145. They won six of the final seven and almost picked up the maximum number of points in those six matches (Tanner Williams' technical fall at 152 was the only point the winners left on the mat). James Dodson's tech fall over Caleb Grimes at 132 was impressive for the Bulldogs, as Grimes is notorious for his ability to keep matches close.

Analysis: I don't have any official confirmation of this, but the District 6 message board says that West Branch won the event with a 5-0 record. Apparently, they beat Meyersdale, which I would have seen as the favorite. I'd like to see the box score from the West Branch-Meyersdale match, but - again - Meyersdale isn't good at submitting results.
The biggest individual surprises I saw came courtesy of a wrestler just outside of my coverage area - Everett's Chris Eichelberger. He knocked off Meyersdale's Gavin Berkley, who had really been wrestling well of late, and had an even bigger victory against Shade's Wolf Otten, a defending District 5 champion. Otten had not lost a dual meet in more than a year. He went undefeated through districts last season before being knocked out of the regional tournament.
Otten, who hadn't wrestled a 6-minute match all season until Saturday, also had a rough time against Marion Center, where he bumped up a weight class to 160 and had a close bout with the Stingers' Phil Crook.
The Panthers did have one pleasant surprise, however, as Phil Aikey pinned Cambria Heights Tyler Crawford at 182 pounds. (At least that's what the box score says, but it also has Shade scoring 24 points on three victories). If that's accurate, it's a big win for Aikey.

Analysis: A good day for the Mountaineers. When I heard they were going to be wrestling Pittsburgh Central Catholic, Burrell, etc., in dual meets, I thought it could get very ugly. Like shutout ugly. I didn't realize that Central Catholic and Burrell had each dropped off a lot from last year and that Kiski Area (not prep, where Evan and Robert Henderson went) might be the best team there. I don't know enough about most of the opponents (except the really big-name ones, which no Berlin wrestler beat) to give too much insight into it. Kudos to Jason Cornell, however, for taking the step up in competition and facing some of the big schools from the WPIAL. That's a stark contrast to the day's other dual-meet event at Everett.
