106-Garret Foster, S, dec. Jake Warren, 10-6 (OT).
113-Ryan Easter, B, tech. fall Damian Jano, 16-0 (3:29).
Records: Bedford 12-0. Somerset 15-3.

Analysis: Fantastic match. For those of you who missed it, check out the video highlights at The Tribune-Democrat. (Even if you did see it, please check it out. The way to convince my superiors that more video coverage is warranted is by showing them impressive numbers). There were plenty of surprises to me, including the fact that Somerset put such a scare into Bedford. I missed the North Star match, so this was the first time I've seen Bedford get tested this season.
Nothing too surprising early on. I thought Tanner Williams might beat Josh Darr at 152 pounds. Williams is probably the most improved wrestler I've seen this year. Big surprise at 160 pounds. Having seen both wrestlers face Chestnut Ridge's Bradie Bollman, I thought Josiah Koontz might be able to beat Michael Sutton. But he couldn't stop Sutton's throw-by and was losing 7-3 in the third when he tried an ill-fated Granby that led to Sutton pinning him.
Jacob Nickelson also surprised me. I'd seen him face some top competition (Westmont Hilltop's Ryan Burnheimer and United's John Blankenship) and have almost no offense. But he showed plenty of firepower early against Yingling, building a 7-0 lead in the first before cruising to an 11-4 victory.
After that, things went pretty much as expected, although the 106 was a toss-up. It also was a thrilling match. Again, watch the video and listen to the crowd erupt when Garret Foster puts Jake Warren on his back in overtime.

Westmont Hilltop 46, Blairsville 21
106-Drake Dorian, WH, tech. fall Logan Henry, 5:20.
113-Logan Blackburn, WH, pinned Nick Pecze, 3:43.
120-Stephen Zipf, WH, maj. dec. Pete Hipple, 12-3.
126-Channing Cavender, B, pinned Nick Mical, 1:06.
132-Andrew Garrison, WH, dec. Nate Lowry, 8-4.
138-Noah Tarr, B, dec. Mike Walsh, 6-4.
145-Ian Helsel, WH, maj. dec. Luke Mowery, 11-2.
152-Andrew Doak, B, pinned Jonah Cramer, 3:37.
160-Tanner Patton, WH, dec. Bobby Thompson, 9-5.
170-Scott Thompson, BL, pinned Colin Barron, 1:26.
182-Ryan Burnheimer, WH, pinned Lucas Ratkus, :42.
195-Eric Kowalewski, WH, dec. Alex Tripodis, 5-3.
220-Don Shovestull, WH, pinned Luke White,  4:58.
285-Josh Duplin, WH, pinned Ryan Maskrey, :34.

Analysis: Westmont, which is in District 6 Class AAA, roughed up one of the better teams in District 6 AAA. No huge surprises, but Tanner Patton's 9-5 decision of Bobby Thompson at 160 pounds is a good win. Eric Kowalewski also had a solid performance, beating an 18-match winner in Alex Tripodis. Westmont's Mike Walsh wrestled a tight match with Noah Tarr, who is 25-1 on the season.

Chestnut Ridge 44, Conemaugh Township 24
106-Sam Shank, CR, pinned Ryan Smolk, :19.
113-Derrick Claar, CR, pinned Kody Ofsanko, 1:29.
120-Trent Crouse, CR, tech. fall Mickey Sanders, 17-2 (5:53).
126-Zach Etterman, CR, pinned Casey Berchick, :46.
132-Shane Pfaunmiller, CR, pinned Kris Knotts, 3:14.
138-Taylor Cahill, CT, pinned Dustin Bence, 1:26.
145-Tanner Cahill, CT, maj. dec. Kyle Winegardner, 9-1.
152-Ryan Grosik, CT, pinned Teddy Albright, 2:50.
160-Cory Berchick, CT, dec. Bradie Bollman, 8-2.
170-Tyler Dibert, CR, pinned Jusdan Griffith, 1:54.
182-Matt Dull, CR, pinned Andrew Gowarty, :59.
195-Kyle Drenner, CT, dec. Dan Albright, 9-5.
220-Luke Fochtman, CR, dec. Luke Gindlesperger, 3-1.
285-Nick Holsopple, CT, dec. Austin Buttry, 8-1.

Analysis: I didn't get this box score on this one - I found it on Ridge's NWCA site - so I'm not sure at what weight it started. Ridge dominated the lightweigths but Township got rolling in the middleweights. Some good matches - like Cory Berchick's 8-2 win over Bradie Bollman at 160, Kyle Drenner's 9-5 decision of Dan Albright at 195 and Luke Fochtman's 3-1 overtime victory over Luke Gindlesperger at 220. Nick Holsopple's 8-1 victory over Austin Buttry surprised me at 285. I know Holsopple is a solid wrestler, but that's a big win.
