I was at Boswell tonight for the big WestPAC match between rivals North Star and Conemaugh Township. I covered it for The Tribune-Democrat. Please read my coverage there, as it is what pays the bills and allows me to do this for my (and hopefully your) enjoyment.
I've been able to find all of the local box scores except for Blairsville at Northern Cambria. The Tribune-Democrat didn't have that and neither did the Altoona Mirror. The Mirror roundup does feature some other box scores that are likely of interest to fans in districts 5 and 6. Also, for those of you interested in the District 6 duals, Huntingdon beat Juniata 45-28 last night, as reported by Todd Irwin of the Mirror.
North Star 43, Conemaugh Township 21
132-Tevin Mostoller, NS, maj. dec. Matt Bridge, 13-2.
138-Taylor Cahill, CT, dec. Luke Lepley, 3-2. 145-Tanner Cahill, CT, dec. Austin Connor, 9-6.
152-Tanner Revak, NS, dec. Ryan Grosik, 12-7.
160-Cory Berchick, CT, pinned Lance Shawley, 1:50.
170-Neil Yoder, NS, pinned Jusdan Griffith, 1:35.
182-Thomas Miller, NS, pinned Andrew Gowarty, 1:09.
195-Max Strasiser, NS, dec. Kyle Drenner, 3-2.
220-Brett Benedict, NS, pinned Luke Gindlesperger, 2:56.
285-Nick Holsopple, CT, dec. Shane Supanick, 3-1.
106-Colton Gennett, NS, pinned Ryan Smolk, :40.
113-Kody Ofsanko, CT, pinned Lenny Beeman, :32.
120-Nick Roberts, NS, pinned Mickey Sanders, :27.
126-Tayte Mostoller, NS, dec. Casey Berchick, 11-5.
Records: North Star 1-2; Conemaugh Township 4-1.
Analysis: I expected North Star to win, but thought it would be closer. Two matches that played a big role in the 22-margin of victory were at 195 and 220. North Star's Max Strasiser continues to impress for someone who hadn't wrestled in six years. His 3-2 victory over Kyle Drenner at 195 was big, and Brett Benedict's fall over Luke Gindlesperger at 220 might have been even bigger. I thought that might be a toss-up match, and it was scoreless before Benedict reversed and pinned Gindlesperger.
There weren't bonus points in some of the spots I expected them. Austin Connor gave Tanner Cahill a battle at 145 and Casey Berchick nearly pinned Tayte Mostoller in a match that he trailed 9-0 in the third period. Give credit, to Mostoller, though. He fought off his back, got a reversal and the win.
I think North Star might have been overlooked a bit because of its 0-2 start and the fact that the Cougars have wrestled in a couple of out-of-the-area tournaments (St. Marys and Fort LeBoeuf), but they should play a big role in the WestPAC and District 5 races. Despite their early season loss to Chestnut Ridge, I think they're right behind Bedford and Somerset in terms of District 5 dual-meet teams.
Somerset 56, Richland 9
285-Jake Hayman, S, dec. Matt Moose, 9-2.
106-Adam George, R, dec. Garret Foster, 3-2.
113-Damian Jano, S, pinned Stephen Rouser, :39.
120-Sheldon Wagner, S, dec. Justin Cinko, 11-4.
126-Tyler Walker, S, pinned Marcus McKool, 1:51.
132-Jon Fabian, S, pinned Eric Seth, 1:55.
138-Mike Laue, S, dec. Nick Naglic, 4-1.
145-Landon Lohr, S, dec. Dan Devan, 4-3.
152-Josh Darr, S, maj. dec. Mario Rizzo, 18-4.
160-Michael Sutton, S, maj. dec. Nico Pecora, 11-1.
170-Logan Eller, S, pinned Elijah Metzger, 2:36.
182-Jacob Nickelson, S, pinned Michael Merriman, 1:02.
195-Patrick Blough, S, pinned Joshua Haymaker, 1:45.
220-John Rizzo, R, forfeit.
Analysis: Some interesting matches in the middleweights here. Mike Laue beating Nick Naglic 4-1 at 138 sounds like a good one. Ditto for Landon Lohr's 4-3 win over Dan Devan at 145. Josh Darr and Michael Sutton must have looked solid in major decisions of Mario Rizzo and Nico Pecora, respectively.

Berlin Brothersvalley 67, Hope for Hyndman 9
152-Trace Heffner, BB, forfeit.
160-Richard Moskey, H, dec. Bryce Fochtman, 8-5.
170-Ben Miller, BB, forfeit.
182-Andre Dauphinais, BB, forfeit.
195-Kody Martin, BB, forfeit.
220-Jacob Craig, BB, maj. dec. James Bennett, 12-3.
285-Stew Trulick, BB, pinned Dylan Emerick, 3:59.
106-Tommy DeArmitt, BB, pinned Tanner Clites, 1:06.
113-Tyler DeArmitt, BB, inj. def. over Robby Snyder, 3:31.
120-Chris Miller, BB, pinned Chris Gibbner, 2:56.
126-Brady Logsdon, H, pinned E.J. Custer, :26.
132-Eric Darr, BB, pinned Tylor Musselman, 1:48.
138-Cole Butler, BB, forfeit.
145-Blake Miller, BB, dec. Cody Gibbner, 18-17 (RO).
Analysis: Not much to critique here, with five forfeits. Sounds like 145 was a wild one, with Blake Miller beating Cody Gibbner 18-17 in rideout. Points aplenty there. Richard Moskey built a 7-1 win lead over freshman Bryce Fochtman at 160, then held on for an 8-5 victory. Berlin was without heavyweight Mitchell Walker (and sounds like it might be for some time) due to a concussion.

Cambria Heights 53, Forest Hills 25
182-Zack Pinkas, FH, maj. dec. William Hoover, 14-2.
195-Tyler Crawford, CH, pinned Sam Michuk, :28.
220-Jake Beach, CH, forfeit.
285-Aaron Gill, CH, pinned Matt Mara, 5:07.
106-Mike Dautlick, CH, forfeit.
113-Ryan Dupas, CH, forfeit.
120-Jeff Brahim, CH, maj. dec. Jake Keiper, 10-0.
126-Joe Davis, CH, forfeit.
132-Kenny Corle, FH, pinned Brad Thomas, :49.
138-Levi Niebauer, CH, pinned Ean Bopp, 2:38.
145-R.J. Brydon, FH, pinned Mike Zabinsky, 5:17.
152-Warren Gramling, FH, pinned Travis Yahner, 2:33.
160-Dalton Waksmunski, CH, forfeit.
170-Cody Law, FH, dec. Ross Inzana, 15-9.
Records: Cambria Heights 5-4; Forest Hills 1-6.
Analysis: Five more forfeits here. There are two matches that stand out to me: 132 and 170. Kenny Corle pinned Brad Thomas in 49 seconds. I know Thomas has had a rough season, but that's still a good win. And Cody Law just continues to impress, with his 15-9 victory over Ross Inzana in the highlight match of the night. Law is first in the Pennsylvania Wrestling Rankings, which I wasn't sure about, since he's never been to Hershey. But man, can anyone stop him from scoring? He's 15-0 this season and has either come up with a fall or scored at least 10 points in all but one match! That's pretty crazy, but it's a testament to his attacking style.

Westmont Hilltop 69, Greater Johnstown 9
138-Andrew Garrison, WH, pinned Rodney Hall, 3:02.
145-Malcolm Harris, GJ, pinned Ian Helsel, 5:26.
152-Evan Smith, GJ, dec. Jonah Cramer, 5-2.
160-Tanner Patton, WH, pinned Jesiah Wilson, 1:35.
170-Colin Barron, WH, forfeit.
182-Ryan Burnheimer, WH, forfeit.
195-Eric Kowalewski, WH, dec. Kawan Butcher, 7-1.
220-Don Shovestull, WH, pinned Jeremiah Miller, 5:02.
285-Josh Duplin, WH, pinned Richard White :55.
Records: Westmont Hilltop 5-1; Greater Johnstown 4-6.
Analysis: Westmont got its big names back (Logan Blackburn, Tanner Patton and Ryan Burnheimer missed a match last week) and, not surprisingly, rolled in another five-forfeiter. Only two of the 14 weights went 6 minutes, so it should have been a quick night. Eric Kowalewski got a big win in one of the matches that went the distance, scoring all seven points in the third period for his 7-1 win over Kawan Butcher at 195.
Malcolm Harris getting a pin over Ian Helsel at 145 was a big win for Johnstown. From what I'm told, it was a fairly close match before the fall. Johnstown was again without the injured Gervon Simon. No word on when he'll be back.
106-Drake Dorian, WH, pinned Madison Lima-Tanaka, 1:56.
113-Logan Blackburn, WH, forfeit.
120-Stephen Zipf, WH, Dustin Stephens, 5:30.
126-Nick Mical, WH, forfeit.
132-Mike Walsh, WH, forfeit.

182–Cody Yingling, B, pinned Henry Schlosser, 2:48.
195–Mike Brett, B, forfeit.
220–Jacob Krupa, B, pinned John Wilkinson, :51.
285–Seth McClendon, PC, pinned Justin Easter, :56.
106–Jake Warren, B, forfeit.
113–Ryan Easter, B, pinned Nathan Gates :32.
Records: Bedford 6-0; Penn Cambria 0-5.
Analysis: No surprise that Bedford rolled here. At least this one only had four forfeits. Has any local wrestler flown under the radar more this year more than Nick Szala? He's 13-1, with the lone loss coming to Claysburg-Kimmel's Ty Dively. He hasn't gotten much attention because the Panthers are struggling this year, but his tech fall of Zach Dudek is another sign of just how good he is.

160-Canyon Burda, C, forfeit.
170-Jarron Knisely, C, pinned Mathew Orner, 2:57.

195-Austin Conrath, C, pinned John Baublitz, :16.
285-Michael Bush, C, pinned Michael Ohler, :54.
Analysis: Wolf Otten seems to have rebounded for a rough (for him) weekend at the Bloody Run Duals. I haven't seen Shade or Central, so I don't know that much about either. Biggest thing I noticed was that Shade was without 106-pounder Joe Pakstis. Trying to find out why, but haven't heard anything yet.

220-Courtland Pannebaker, T, dec. Luke Zearing, 7-2.
285-Nick Wolfe, T, pinned Evan Sikora, 1:15.
106-Ty Snyder, T, forfeit.
Analysis: Just reading over the box score, one thing popped out at me: Tony Risaliti had a close match. I don't know the details of it, but his 6-4 victory over D.J. Wunder definitely caught my attention. Without having seen the match, I don't know if Wunder was doing his best to keep from being scored upon or if he had a legitimate chance to upset Risaliti. I do see from his NWCA page that Wunder is now 9-4 and was beaten 18-6 earlier in the season by Forest Hills' Cody Law.
