Updated 12-8 - Recapping the weekend

Between my story for The Tribune-Democrat and blog posts with complete results and interesting tidbits, I detailed quite thoroughly what happened at the Conemaugh Township Holiday Tournament.
Here's a look at some of the other events featuring teams from districts 5 and 6.

JJ Powell PO Mountaineer Tournament - Central Dauphin East won the Philipsburg-Osceola tournament.
  1. Central Dauphin East 194
  2. New Oxford 163.5
  3. Philipsburg-Osceola 160.5
  4. Curwensville 128.5
  5. Altoona 121
  6. Punxsutawney 117
  7. Somerset 75.5
  8. Glendale 51
  • Philipsburg-Osceola: Seth Roach (113), Bryce Bennett (126) and Dakota Weitoish (138) won championships while Levi Hughes (132) and Nick Patrick (160) were runners-up.
  • Altoona: Hunter Hileman (120) and D.J. Hollingshead (160) captured titles while sophomore David Hess was second at 285 pounds.
  • Somerset: The Golden Eagles' lineup was much different than it will look in a few weeks, as the football team was playing in the PIAA Class AAA semifinals on Saturday. As it was, Derek Talley took second in a 106-pound weight class that only had three wrestlers and Jon Fabian was the runner-up at 145.
  • Glendale: Ray Carlheim (220) finished second.
Ephrata Duals - Mifflin County went 4-0 to capture the championship, with victories over Ephrata (73-5), Reading (52-1), Downingtown East (38-27) and Biglerville (49-15).

Blairsville Duals - The Indiana Gazette has a story on the duals that you can view for free if you haven't looked at more than five articles on the site.
Team standings:
  1. Blairsville (5-0)
  2. Moshannon Valley (4-1)
  3. Central Cambria (3-2)
  4. Penn Cambria (3-2)
  5. Derry (2-3)
  6. Marion Center (2-3)
  7. Indiana (1-4)
  8. West Shamokin (0-5)
I was interested in seeing how Moshannon Valley's Larry Brown, a PJW winner last year, fared in his first varsity event. It looks like he went 4-1 on the day with the only loss being a 6-2 setback to Marion Center's Isaac Stewart, a D6 runner-up last season. Looks like Brown could definitely be a factor at 152 pounds this season.

Top Hat tournament - Complete results are available via the Williamsport Sun-Gazette.
Central Mountain won the team title, with Geo Barzona (106) and Gavin Caprio (170) capturing championships. Keanan Bottorf (120) and Isaac Porter (182) each finished second. Eleven CM wrestlers placed in the top five of the 19-team tournament.
Bald Eagle Area's Josh Frye won the 285-pound title and was won of seven placewinners for the Eagles, who tied for eighth in the team standings.
Hollidaysburg didn't have any finalists, but did have six placewinners in an 11th-place finish.

Wyalusing Ram Duals: Juniata went 3-2, with victories over Sayre (47-21), Lackawanna Trail (66-6) and Crestwood (36-33) and losses to Tunkhannock (57-22) and Shikellamy (54-46). Taylor Foster led the Indians, going 5-0 with four pins and a forfeit victory.
