PIAA Duals

Note: I mistakenly had Bedford wrestling Bermudian Springs tonight. It's actually Boiling Springs.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it to Hershey this season for the PIAA Dual-Meet Championships. Luckily, with the power of the Internet, it's pretty easy to follow along from home now.
The PIAA has done a good job of keeping scores (and box scores) updated throughout the day. Results are usually posted here within a minute or two of an individual bout being completed.
If you can't wait that long, you can follow along on Twitter. @Bedfordwrestle does a fantastic job of following the Bisons. @JosephGTuscano concentrates more on the WPIAL, which means he isn't too concerned with Class AA at this point, but he's still worthy of a follow. @Mitch_Rupert is out of Williamsport and does a nice job, even if he's anti-techno music.

I've posted a story on The Tribune-Democrat about Bedford's victory over Pen Argyl.

Bedford 30, Pen Argyl 29

170-Cody Yingling, B, dec. Kyler Kutzler, 10-9.

285-Kirby Mutton, PA, pinned Justin Easter, :43.
106-Jake Warren, B, pinned Philip Meyers, 3:39.
113-Matt Williams, PA, forfeit.*
120-Ryan Easter, B, dec. Tyler Knapik, 3-0.
126-Garrett Thomas, B, dec. Andrew Sutton, 9-2.
132-Toby Brett, B, dec Stephen Burriesci, 11-4, OT.
138-Jarett Stoelzl, PA, dec. Zach Dudek, 10-6.
145-Ryan Lobb, PA, dec. Jesse Martin, 4-2 (OT).
152-Michael Racciato, PA, forfeit.

*-Pen Argyl was penalized one team point at 113 pounds.

Records: Bedford 17-0; Pen Argyl 21-5.

Analysis: I went into some detail in the story about this match, so I'm just going to look at some of the oddities here.
1. It's not often that you give up six points and the other team only takes five. The thrown headgear by Matt Williams is inexcusable. I'm sure he wanted to wrestle Ryan Easter and help his team. But stepping onto the mat and getting his hand raised was all he could do once Bedford opted to bump away from him. It's a sign of respect. Accept it and the six points. To then cost your team a point in the state duals of all places is lesson that should stick with him for life. But from what I've heard, the Green Knights have made a habit out of being unable to hold onto their headgears. Not a noble quality.
2. Having Dylan Evans pin Dylan Evans. Following along online, I thought someone in Hershey typed in the wrong name. Nope. I should have realized that Pen Argyl's Dylan Evans is third in the Pennsylvania Wrestling Rankings, but I didn't. I did know that Bedford had a Dylan Evans. And, from what Brian Creps said, he was giving his namesake a spirited battle until a strong crossface dazed the Bisons' Dylan Evans and led to a quick pin for the Green Knights' Dylan Evans. As a side note, Bedford suffered a possible broken nose for the second consecutive dual in Hershey and managed to win. Josiah Koontz took those honors in the Day 1 victory over Western Wayne. So, Bisons, who's going to step up and take one for the team to ensure a win over Boiling Springs tonight?
3. Telling a wrestler to intentionally get taken down in overtime. Speaking of taking one for the team, how about Jesse Martin giving up an overtime takedown (and a chance at his fifth win of the season) in order to secure the Bisons' dual-meet victory. By giving up the two points and ensuring his loss by decision, it enable to Bedford to forfeit to Mike Racciato at 152 and start thinking ahead to Boiling Springs. That type of unselfish behavior is one of the reasons Bedford is so consistent a force in dual meets.
