Wednesday night recap 2/8/2012

It's been a busy week at my regular job, so finding the time to update the blog has been tough. There were only two matches on the slate Wednesday night, and I only have one result.

North Star HS: 44 NORTHERN BEDFORD CO HS: 33
106: Guyer, Cody (NORTHERN BEDFORD CO HS) For (North Star HS) -
113: Gennett, Colton (North Star HS) MD Gochnour, Matthew(NORTHERN BEDFORD CO HS) 14-0

126: Replogle, Mason (NORTHERN BEDFORD CO HS) DEC Mostoller, Tayte(North Star HS) 4-1
132: Corle, Damian (NORTHERN BEDFORD CO HS) FALL Mostoller, Tevin(North Star HS) 1:45

182: Yoder, Neil (North Star HS) MD Douglas, Duelin(NORTHERN BEDFORD CO HS) 12-4
195: Strasiser, Max (North Star HS) For (NORTHERN BEDFORD CO HS) -
220: Supanick, Shane (North Star HS) Def Brunner, Justin(NORTHERN BEDFORD CO HS) 3:01
285: Hixson, Quinton (NORTHERN BEDFORD CO HS) FALL Horner, Kevin(North Star HS) :59

Analysis: North Star gets the win, but I'd guess coach Pat Berzonski isn't thrilled with the overall performance.  Perhaps the most surprising thing to me is that yet another local heavyweight has dropped to 220. Shane Supanick went down and picked up a six-point win over Justin Brunner, which gave Berzonski the flexibility to put Kevin Horner in against Quinton Hixson, who is No. 1 in the Pennsylvania Wrestling Rankings. That was important, because Northern Bedford picked up 15 points from 126 to 138. Despite the rumors that I've heard all year that Mason Replogle is dropping to 113, he did just fine at 126, beating Tayte Mostoller 4-1. Damian Corle's victory over Tevin Mostoller at 132 wouldn't necessarily have been a surprise to me, but I wouldn't have guessed a first-period pin. That also applies to the 138 match. I'm sure North Star wasn't banking on giving up pins at both weights.

Glendale at Portage - Not sure if this actually took place or not. We had it on our schedule at The Tribune-Democrat, but I didn't see a result and the NWCA doesn't have results for it. (Glendale doesn't even have it on its schedule).
