Not much to recap from Monday night. I only know of two matches, one of which (Ligonier Valley-United) was a makeup and not on my original schedule.
Ligonier Valley 37, United 30
106–Gordon Matson, LV, forfeit.
113–No match.
120–Justin Patrick, LV, forfeit.
126–Max Caldwell, LV, pinned Warren Lowther, 2:47.
132–Daniel Croyle, LV, pinned Devon Walker, 3:59.
138–Grant Ingalls, U, pinned Nickolas Stahl, 4:53.
145–Derek Croyle, LV, pinned Tyler Mack, 2:50.
152–Tyler Smith, LV, maj. dec. Brent Mack, 16-5.
160–Anthony Michaels, U, pinned Oliver Hall, 1:43.
170–Miles Stahl, U, forfeit.
182–Charles Hropovich, U, dec. Dominick Shawley, 26-21.
195–Tyler Oliver, U, forfeit.
220–Raymond Marsh, LV, dec. Andrew Deitman, 12-10.
285–Benjamin Mountan, U, dec. Kyler Kruel, 1-0.
Records: Ligonier Valley 2-2; United 3-8.
Analysis: The dual was a little closer than I would have guessed. Ligonier Valley was again without Josh Patrick (leg strain) but did just fine in the lower weights, outscoring United 24-0 through 132. I'm not sure you can say a 26-21 match is a good one, but the 182-pound bout between Charles Hropovich and Dominick Shawley certainly had to be an entertaining one. That's the highest-scoring match I've seen all season. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever seen that kind of point total in a regular decision.
Central Cambria 41, Richland 21
132–Steve Pennington, CC, forfeit.
138–Nick Naglic, R, pinned Kevin Bednar, 5:11.
145–Gabe Seymour, CC, pinned Marcus McKool, 1:52.
152-Tyler Karlinsey, CC, dec. Hunter Cober, 6-3.
160–Cordale Kline, CC, dec. Trevor Henry, 8-3.
170-Nico Pecora, R, pinned Devin Bowser, 1:03.
182-Josh Haymaker, R, dec. Calvin Crow, 3-1.
195–Tom Howe, CC, forfeit.
220-Jordan O’Farrell, CC, forfeit.
285–Matt Moose, R, pinned John Branick, 1:05.
106–No match.
113–Ian Ostrowsky, CC, dec. Tyler Bodenschatz, 7-5.
120–Tom Opdenhoff, CC, tech fall Adam George, 16-0 (4:20).
126-Brad Taylor, CC, dec. Stephen Rowser 6-4.
Records: Central Cambria 5-9; Richland 1-5.
Analysis: It's been a rough go for a Richland team decimated by injuries, and Monday night was no different. The best matchup was at 113 pounds, where Ian Ostrowsky (13-5) dec. Tyler Bodenschatz (11-6) 7-5. Ostrowsky is just part of a nice group of lightweights for Central Cambria. That includes another freshman in Tom Opdenhoff, who is 17-3 and junior Brad Taylor, who is better than his 7-9 record indicates.
