Wednesday Night Recap 1-30-2013

The District 6 Duals were in action at two sites on Wednesday night. Word is that Cambria Heights beat Moshannon Valley, but I haven't seen any box scores yet. A win would have pitted the Highlanders against top-seeded West Branch in the quarterfinals.
Ligonier Valley was scheduled to face fellow Heritage Conference foe Blairsville at Mount Union with the winner taking on the host school.

Regular Season
North Star 69, Shade 6
106-Lenny Beeman, NS, pinned Blake Sheehan, 1:10.
113-No match.
120-Tayte Mostoller, NS, forfeit.
126-Colton Gennett, NS, maj. dec. David Dietz, 11-3.
132-Michael Baker, NS, tech. fall Mike Manges, 15-0 (4:41).
138-Tevin Mostoller, NS, forfeit.
145-Luke Lepley, NS, forfeit.
152-Corey Fritch, NS, forfeit.
160-Austin Connor, NS, forfeit.
170-Thomas Miller, NS, forfeit.
182-Hunter Connor, NS, forfeit.
195-Zach Maluchnik, NS, forfeit.
220-Kevin Horner, NS, forfeit.
285-Trevor Brown, S, pinned Brady Vinisky, 1:51.
Records: North Star 8-5; Shade 0-7.

Analysis: This was moved up a day to accommodate North Star's District 5 Duals match at Berlin Brothersvalley on Thursday. It's sad to see what has happened to the Shade program. A few years ago, it looked like the Panthers might be building a competitive program for the future. Now are winless and can't even field half a team. There was less than 15 minutes of match time in this dual meet.
The one bright spot for Shade was at heavyweight, where Trevor Brown pinned Brady Vinisky. Brown is one of only two Panthers with a winning record.
North Star got an impressive technical fall from Michael Baker at 132 pounds. I would have guessed that he would have had a tougher time with Mike Manges.
